I have QB installed on another computer, but it is not being used anymore.

I need to activate the program on my new computer, but the process never completes

I've got the troubleshooting steps you can perform to help you install your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on your new computer, Elaine-D. I'll get into the specifics below.

 

Before we begin, have you encountered any errors while activating QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer? Providing us with this information will allow us to offer a more targeted solution.


Then, if you encountered issues when entering your product and license numbers, or your activation code, or experienced an error after subscribing or syncing your data in QuickBooks Desktop, you can refer to the article based on the specific error you've encountered: Fix activation, license, and product numbers issues.

 

On the other hand, if you didn't receive any errors during the activation but are still unable to complete it, we can perform troubleshooting steps to ensure you get past the activation process.

 

Here's how:

 

First, download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Here's how:

 

  1. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub when the installation finishes.

 

Next, use the tool to run the Quick fix to my program.

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tool hub, select Program Problems.
  3. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  4. Once done, start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.
