I am trying to print a check for an employee and it's printing with an asterisk in front of his name. How can I remove it? I marked him once as unpaid leave of absence

This employee was active at the beginning of the year and left for a couple of months so I marked as unpaid leave of absence and since then he shows up with the asterisk. I tried to set him up as active but the asterisk is still showing up. His name is well written as well

Let’s sort out why there’s an asterisk in front of the employee’s name when printing a check.

While we haven’t received similar reports, let's try performing some browser troubleshooting steps to determine if this is a browser-related issue.

The first thing to do is open your QuickBooks Online account in a private browser or Chrome's incognito window. This is a feature in the web which allows you to browse without storing any data history.

Depending on the browser you're using, refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Internet Explorer: press Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Safari: press Command+Shift+P

If this works well, it's possible that your main browser is filled with cached data, which slows causes strange behavior of your account. To keep this from happening again, clear your browser's cache.

Once done, open your QBO company and try printing the check.

Let me know how things go once you've tried the steps. I’ll be back to assist you further. Wishing you the best.
