Hey there, lisa7854.

I'm here to help you get past the error so you can update your QuickBooks Desktop.

The error 12007 is caused by QuickBooks Desktop not being able to utilize the internet connection on your computer. These errors can also be caused by general internet connection failures.

Let's perform a couple of troubleshooting steps to resolve this error. First, we'll need to verify if you can access a secure website outside of QuickBooks Desktop, such as the sign-in page of your financial institution.

If you are unable to do so, I recommend consulting a computer or IT expert. Once done, please follow the steps provided in this article: Error 12XXX when getting updates.

If you'd like to go through this over the phone, you can call our dedicated team who will be happy to assist you. Our contact details can be found here along with our opening hours:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Should you have other concerns about updating QuickBooks, just let me know. I'm ready to help you in any way I can.

I'm having a similar issue with 2009 accounting premier.  I bought a new pc. Installed the app from the original disk. All went well until I tried to open the company -- I was told that the newly installed app was at maintenance release level 1, whereas my company files were at maintenance release level 14. I tried to update and keep getting error 12007. I downloaded a version of internet explorer, as apparently that is the only browser QB will use. I have no problem accessing my bank's website, so I know it's not a security problem or connectivity problem -- even though that is what error code 12007 means. HELP!!!

@dsmerling

Consider reinstall your QBD 2009 by using the installer file of the latest release version.
