Hi ohiowebpro,

The Task or To do section is located at the top section of the Dashboard. If you don't see that section after clicking the Dashboard menu, you can press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page.

What data are your trying to export? You can also export data by going to the Gear icon and choosing the Export data option under Tools. The reports are also available for exports in Excel or PDF formats.

I am trying to export a full backup for moving to another system. No surprise that this is not very well supported, documented or found. Its still not in the dashboard after refreshing many times, and logging out and in many times.

Hi there, ohiowebpro.

You can export the Reports and Lists to an Excel file, but you have to do it manually. Let me show you how.

In exporting the Reports, here's how:

  1. In your QBO company, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Export Data under the Tools column.
  3. Select the Reports tab and turn on the radio button for all the reports.
  4. Hit the Export to Excel button.

In exporting the Lists, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Export Data under the Tools column.
  3. Select the Lists tab and turn on the radio button for all the lists.
  4. Hit the Export to Excel button.

I added a screen shot for your reference.

Also, you can check this article about exporting for more information: Export Data out of QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you need extra help. I'll be around the community, ready to back you up. Have a good one.

Another response without reading the whole issue. Where did I mention reports or lists? I need a full backup of all data, like I mentioned, for migration.

I'm here to help you the best way I can, ohiowebpro.

You should be able to see the Task List in the Dashboard.  As an initial troubleshooting step, try logging into your QBO account using a different or a private browser.

There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, thus causing some unusual responses. To use a private browser, here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox or Internet Explorer).
  • Control Option (Safari).

Once logged in, go back to the Dashboard to download your file. If it shows, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache

However, if you're still unable to locate the Task or To-Do section, you can still export the file without using this option. See the steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks Online, go to the Settings ⚙ icon and select Export Data.
  2. Enter your reason for exporting and select Continue.
  3. In the Moving to QuickBooks Desktop section, select Learn more.
  4. In the Download company data section, select Learn more.
  5. Select Get started. On the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, select Continue to download.
  6. In QuickBooks Desktop, make sure you're on the No Company Open screen. If you have a company open, go to File and select Close company.
  7. Back in QuickBooks Online, select Download. In the Save, your company file window, select a location to save the file. Pick a place other than your Windows Desktop.
  8. When the download finishes, select Convert Now.
  9. In the Create a new QuickBooks file window, give the file a name and select a location to save it in. Pick a place on your local computer and not a network or external drive.
  10. After the export is done, select Finished.

Alternatively, you can use this link in exporting your QuickBooks Online data http://qbo.intuit.com/app/exportqbodatatoqbdt. After that, prepare to export your QuickBooks Online data by following the steps below:

  1. Click the Get Started button in the Export Overview window.
  2. Select Install under ActiveX Control Now.
  3. When it's finished, click Continue.
  4. Choose the data you want to export, then click Continue.
  5. Review the limitations and choose Continue.
  6. Enter your contact info and then click Continue.

That should do the trick. Keep me posted on how everything goes in the comment section. I'll be here if you need anything else. Have a good one.
