You get this error code if the connection type with your bank needs to be updated.

I have the same error message.  I open QuickBooks in web browser, select update, it takes me to another page with Wells Fargo logo and contact info and I cannot select anything???

Allow me to help share information about Banking Error 377.


As mentioned by our colleague RenjolynC, this error means that QuickBooks is unable to download transactions from your account because the connection type with your bank needs to be updated.


To resolve the error you may need to connect your bank directly.

  1. Click on Banking at the left pane.
  2. Select Banking.
  3. Click Update beside Add account.

I had the same issue with trying to update my bank account log-in information within the app. I would have a redirecting box appear, then just hang...nothing would happen. 


I was able to fix the issue by using my secure web browser, open QB on line then I was able to connect to my bank through a secure window.


Bottom line don't use the app use your banking information use a secure web browser.

I am having the same issue with my Discover card. This is what appears in QBO:


"Let's fix your Discover - Credit Cards connection.
The old connection doesn't work anymore. Reconnect with the faster, more reliable one now and get back on track. (377)"
There is a link "Update now" that takes you to separate URL. When I attempt to log in from that URL, the following error message appears:
"Unable to link account

We need to get some additional information from you before you link your account to help protect it. Please contact us at [removed] for immediate assistance"


I have called that Discover phone number a couple of times. They say Two-Factor Authorization is not needed when QBO connects to their system and everything looks good on their end. I called QBO and they have no idea what is going on. I even gave them access to my computer and no luck. They say it is on Discover's end.


Basically Discover & QBO are pointing fingers at each other and nothing is resolved. 


Any ideas on what the problem is?

I'd like to make sure you'll be guided to the right support, @vamosfrank.


I appreciate your efforts in trying out some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. I'd like to check this for you and get it taken care of myself. However, I won't be able to check your account without asking for sensitive information. I don't want your account information displayed here for security reasons since the Community platform is a public forum.


I recommend giving our Customer Care Team a call again to have this investigated. Agents have the necessary tools, like screen-sharing to get you back up and running.


Here's how to reach them:


    1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
    2. Select Help (?).
    3. Select either tab to get started:
      • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
    • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
      • Start a chat with a support expert.
      • Get a callback from the next available expert.


I also suggest you view this article: QuickBooks Online Support. It contains their hours of operation, so you know when they're available. 


Alternatively, you can add your bank to the chart of accounts and bring in the transactions using a WebConnect file.


Once connected, QuickBooks will automatically download your most recent transactions. I recommend editing, assigning, and categorizing your transactions. Also, you can match them to the existing entries in the software. Just go to the For Review tab from the Banking menu. Doing so will help you ensure the accuracy of your financial records.

I have done the screen sharing and nobody knows what is going on. And by nobody, I mean QBO & Discover. This has been going on for a couple of months. I am really surprised it still has not been fixed.
