I have Quickbooks Desktop Mac 2014 and OS X version. How do I upgrade to quickbooks 2016 without loosing all the date from 2014 version and not having OS Sierra?

I need to update quickbooks desktop mac 2014 to 2016, but i still have OS X on my mac, and I was told quickbooks 2016 is not compatible with OS X, and the 2014 version is not compatible with OS Sierra. What should I do?

Not sure what version of the OS you have now (OS X is the general term - Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite are examples of the names of specific versions).

Anyway, go ahead and update to Sierra (I encourage you to save your QuickBooks Mac company file first to a backup).  Then you install QuickBooks Mac 2016.  You can get a 30 day free trial from www.qblittlesquare.com.  It will update your 2014 company file to the 2016 version.

You will need to purchase the QuickBooks Mac 2016 version from Intuit or Amazon, etc before the trial times out.  When you get it make sure to run QuickBooks->Check For Updates and apply any available updates.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think I currently have OS X 10.9.5 (Safari 9.1.3), i don't think I ever updated since 2010 when I purchased the Mac. I always backup quickbooks files after each session, but I was told that if I upgrade to Sierra, the Quickbooks 2014 will no longer function. So, you are telling me, I should: 1st) backup quickbooks 2014 files; 2nd) Upgrade Mac software to Sierra (install sierra), 3rd) Buy and install Quickbooks Mac 2016. Then, how can I migrate all the info from Quickbooks 2014 to 2016 version? Thank you very much for your time!
