I can help you get rid of this error, Bonny.

Error -6000 and -832 usually occur when hosting is turned on or the .ND file is not working properly. To isolate the issue, we'll have to make sure that we're using the latest release of QuickBooks Desktop. Then, download the QuickBooks Tools Hub and run File Doctor. Doing this processes will help fix common errors.

We'll also have to take note that -6000 errors can happen on both local and network setup. If you're opening the file locally. We can start by renaming the .ND and .TLG files. These are configuration files that allow QuickBooks to access a company file in a network or multi-user environment. If these files are corrupted or damaged, you will encounter these errors when you open your QuickBooks files. Here's how:

  1. Open the folder that contains your company file.
  2. Find the files with the same file name as your company files but with extensions .ND and .TLG.
    • company_file.qbw.nd
    • company_file.qbw.tlg
  3. Right-click each file and select Rename. Add the word OLD at the end of each file name.Example: company_file.qbw.nd.OLD
  4. Open QuickBooks again and try to sign in to your company file.

If the same issue occurs, we can open a sample company file to check if the problem possibly lies with your company file or the QuickBooks application. You can follow the steps below:

  1. In the No Company Open window, select Open a Sample File and choose any from the list of sample company files.
  2. If the sample file returns the same error message, repair your QuickBooks installation files.
  3. If the sample file opens, let's copy the QuickBooks file on the Desktop to test if there's a problem with the location of the company file.

You can refer to this article in doing the whole troubleshooting process: Resolve Error -6000, when opening a company file. It also contains the troubleshooting steps in resolving the error if you're opening the file over the network.

I also encourage consulting your IT specialist  to be guided in doing this process since it involves directories and network configurations.

Let me know how it goes in the comment section, as I want to ensure that you can successfully open your company file without any errors.
