Hello there, pbercutt.

Thanks for sharing the steps you've taken in fixing error 7000. I'm here to guide and ensure you're able to change the company name successfully.

You must be the Master Administrator to change the company name of the QuickBooks Online account. If this isn't your designated access rights, you'll want to contact the company's MA to update it.

Otherwise, please give us a call, so we can double-check what's causing the error to occur. Our specialists have the necessary tools to securely access your account and provide additional resolutions specifically to the issue.

I'd recommend letting them know about the troubleshooting you did to avoid re-doing the same process. You can see our most-up-to-date contact details here:

Be sure to touch base with me here on the results of the call, I want to ensure this matter gets resolved.

Cheering you and your business to continued prosperity this 2019!

Is there a solution QBO can post?  I am having the same problem today with a new account, have taken same steps mentioned in original post.

Thanks for joining the discussion, @fwilt75. I'm here to lend a hand with updating your company information.

Just to clarify, have you signed up for electronic services? The reason for asking this is because this error message is often associated with trying to update company information while these services are active or applied for. If so, you can deactivate them with the following steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Payroll Settings.
  2. Select E-file and e-pay.
  3. Choose Manually with paper coupons.
  4. Click Next.
