I'm getting the following error when updating the company zip code., An application error has occurred while processing your request : -1

We can do some troubleshooting steps to fix this error. Before doing so, please make sure you are logged in as the master administrator.

Then, open your company using the incognito or private browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:   

1. Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
2. Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
3. Internet Explorer: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
4. Safari: Press Command + Shift + N 

Once done, try to update the zip code again. If it works, let's clear your regular browser's cache and close it entirely. This will refresh your browser settings.

You can also try using a different browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Allow me to take over and provide you some updates regarding the error you're getting when updating your company's zip code via QuickBooks Online.

We have been receiving reports coming from our customers about this issue and our Engineering Team is working closely to get this issue resolved. While they do, I would advise you to reach out to our QuickBooks Online Support.

This way our engineers can add your account information to the list of affected users and attach your case to the INV-31242. Any progress will be communicated via email.

To reach us, please follow the steps below:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online Company.
2. Click (?) Help at the upper right corner.
3. Select Contact US on the pop-up.
4. Enter a brief description of your concern then hit Continue.
5. Click Get a callback.
6. Enter your contact information.
7. Select Call me.

when trying to update the company name. How about fixing this problem AND having error messages that mean something?

I can help you on how to update your company name, ChrisRJ.

If your company name is the same as your legal name, you'll not be able to update it if your E-File & Pay feature is turned on. Before you can update it, you'll need to turn it off first. Then, you'll need to re-enroll once you've updated your company name.  This article will serve as your guide: Turn off the E-File and Pay feature.

If E-File & Pay feature is turned on and you'd like to update your company name which is different from legal name, make sure the Same as company name tick-box is unchecked.

You can also follow the troubleshooting steps provided by RenjolynC above if you're still experiencing the same error. 

After performing all the steps and the error still occur, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support team. This way, they can investigate what happened on your account. 

1. Go to the Help icon and select Contact us.
2. Enter a brief description of your concern. Then, Continue.
3. Choose either Chat or Get a callback.
