You should be able to open the 2015 file. First run QuickBooks->Check for Updates in the 2016 version. Then choose File->Open and navigate to your 2015 company file and open it.

one more issue: thanks to your help, QB 2016 MAC is working fine, however it was a download & I never received an email with product # in it, so now I cannot register it & I'm limited to use! Help again, Deb

For that you have to either log into Intuit support or call them. I'm not sure of the tel # or log in for either - you could ask on a new thread and someone will likely respond.
