I upgraded to QB Desktop Pro 2020 and Loan manager opens but has no loan information. Is there a fix for this?

Let me be the first to welcome you to the Community, @polarpropertymgm.

Missing loan information can happen after upgrading QuickBooks Desktop, restoring a backup, or moving the company file. The Loan Manager creates a new .lmr file which will not contain any of your previous data.

Follow the instructions below to resolve this:

Step 1: Search for and copy the original .lmr file.

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop
  2. On your keyboard, press Ctrl+F then type *.lmr to search for the Loan Manager file.
  3. Right-click the .lmr file, and tap Copy.
  4. Paste the file on a removable disk.

Step 2: Rename the empty or new .lmr file.

  1. Press Ctrl+F on your keyboard then type *.lmr.
  2. In the results lists, right-click the new .lmr file and select Rename.
  3. Change the file name to oldlmr.old.
  4. If a warning message about renaming file extensions appears, tap Yes.
  5. Hit Enter to save the name change.

Step 3: Identify the new location of the company file.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Press F2 to open the Product Information screen.
  3. In the File Information section, take note of the path and file name of the company file shown in Location. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks Premier\[CompanyName].qbw.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Close QuickBooks Desktop.

Step 4: Copy the .lmr file to the new company file location.

  1. Place the disk that contains the copied .lmr file in the appropriate drive.
  2. From the Start button, select All Programs.
  3. Pick Accessories, then Windows Explorer.
  4. Select the drive with the removable disk.
  5. Right-click the .lmr file and select Copy.
  6. Go to your company file’s current location. This is the location you copied in Step 3.
  7. Lastly, right-click any blank area then choose Paste.

Once done, test the solution by re-opening QuickBooks Desktop. Go to the Banking menu, then choose Loan Manager to view the loan details.

For more information about the tool, I recommend checking out this article: QuickBooks Loan Manager.

If you need further assistance with the steps, mention me in the comment section. I'll be ready to pop-in and help. Have a fantastic day!

Let me help you get through with this, @tomm10.

Upgrading QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to a newer version might be the reason why the Loan Manager is missing. Let's re-enable it and run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

First, download and install the QuickBooks Tools Hub:

  1. Close your QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install is done, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub. If you can't find the icon, search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and choose the program.

Then, run a quick repair on your program:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Choose Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Open QuickBooks and run Loan Manager or Cash Flow Projector.

If you’re getting the same problem, you can follow the next solutions provided in this article: Loan Manager or Cash Flow Projector is missing after upgrading QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm also adding this article you can read for further information about moving or reinstalling QBDT to another computer: Move or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop to another computer.

Keep me posted if you're able to see the loan manager or if you have other questions. I'm always here to help you more.
