Missing loan information can happen after upgrading QuickBooks Desktop, restoring a backup, or moving the company file. The Loan Manager creates a new .lmr file which will not contain any of your previous data.
Follow the instructions below to resolve this:
Step 1: Search for and copy the original .lmr file.
Close QuickBooks Desktop
On your keyboard, press Ctrl+F then type *.lmr to search for the Loan Manager file.
Right-click the .lmr file, and tap Copy.
Paste the file on a removable disk.
Step 2: Rename the empty or new .lmr file.
Press Ctrl+F on your keyboard then type *.lmr.
In the results lists, right-click the new .lmr file and select Rename.
Change the file name to oldlmr.old.
If a warning message about renaming file extensions appears, tap Yes.
Hit Enter to save the name change.
Step 3: Identify the new location of the company file.
Open QuickBooks Desktop.
Press F2 to open the Product Information screen.
In the File Information section, take note of the path and file name of the company file shown in Location. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks Premier\[CompanyName].qbw.
Close QuickBooks Desktop.
Step 4: Copy the .lmr file to the new company file location.
Place the disk that contains the copied .lmr file in the appropriate drive.
From the Start button, select All Programs.
Pick Accessories, then Windows Explorer.
Select the drive with the removable disk.
Right-click the .lmr file and select Copy.
Go to your company file’s current location. This is the location you copied in Step 3.
Lastly, right-click any blank area then choose Paste.
Once done, test the solution by re-opening QuickBooks Desktop. Go to the Banking menu, then choose Loan Manager to view the loan details.
