I have quickbooks installed on a host but I do no longer want to pay for the host service so how can I move my quickbooks to by regular desktop?

I'm glad you've reached out to the QuickBooks Community, @jgilligans.

Let me help ensure that you’ll be able to stop the multi-user access in QuickBooks Desktop.

To do this,, let's make sure you’re logged in as the Administrator. Once done, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click File at the top menu bar.
  2. Under the drop-down list, click Utilities.
  3. Choose Host Multi-User Access
  4. Click Stop Hosting Multi-User Access to turn it off.

For future reference, you can check this article: Host your company data file in multi-user mode.

This will get you on the right track. Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about the hosting multi-user mode. Have a good one.
