Re: installation error

Hi there, limuzi400.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm here to help get rid of the Error 1406 so you can install your QuickBooks Desktop successfully.

The Error 1406 happens when there is an update from a firewall or any security program installed on your computer. Temporarily disabling your anti-virus or other security software can help resolve this error.

Otherwise, we can download and run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. This tool is commonly use to help fix QuickBooks installation errors.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool.
  2. When prompted, save the file to the local Desktop.
  3. Close any open programs and run the QBInstall Tool.

Once done, restart the computer after running the tool to ensure the components are properly updated. If you encounter the same issue, please check out this article for additional troubleshooting options: Fix common QuickBooks Desktop installation errors using QBInstall tool.

As always, you can reach out to our Care Support Team if you'd like someone to be with you as you go through these steps.

Here's  how you can reach them:

  1. Go to
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Choose your QuickBooks for Windows version.
  4. Click Search for something else and enter a topic.
  5. Click the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Your QuickBooks should now be able to install QuickBooks. If you need anything else, please feel free to come back and leave a comment below. Have a good one.
