First run QuickBooks->Check for Updates and make sure you have the most recent version of 2019. Then find your 2016 files (in the Finder click on Spotlight and search for .qb2016 to see all the 2016 files you have).  Inside of QuickBooks Mac 2019 choose File->Open and navigate to the 2016 files. It should be able to open them.

Hi there, @sparkyed.

Welcome to the Community. I'd like to provide some details about the compatibility of Mojave with QuickBooks for Mac 2016 and on how you can recover your corrupted files.

Yes, QuickBooks for Mac 2016 is compatible with Mojave. Once you're subscribed to the support plan, our representatives will be able to recover your corrupted files. In the meantime, you can restore the backup of your company file to retrieve your data.

Here's how:

  1. Double click the .dmg file. A new window opens the "Ghost" drive.
  2. Drag the company file (with .qbXXXX extension) to the folder where you want to store the company file.
  3. Drag the Attached Documents Library folder (if applicable) to the same folder as the QuickBooks company file.
  4. Click the copy of the company file saved on the desired location or go to File > Open Company.

To learn more about this process, please refer to this article: Restore a backup (.dmg) in QuickBooks Mac.

why then did customer support say it was not compatible and mojave had degraded my files? and basically said there was nothing they could do even though I bought new product and that's when i could no longer access my 2016 files? I was told repeatedly by support that mojave was not compatible with qb 2016 and that mojave caused the corruption of my files.

Thank you. my question is why support with access to my computer couldn't do this? apparently they are just trying to get more money out of me? again thanks took 30 seconds to restore my data doing it by your directions
