Is Quickbooks for Mac being discontinued after the 2016 version?

We converted from QB 2016 for Mac to QB Online and absolutely hate it.  Looking to go back to desktop version, but I am reading alot about the Mac desktop version being discontinued.

Anyone know definitively if this is true?

Is Quickbooks for Mac being discontinued after the 2016 version?

The news that 2016 edition of QB for Mac was the last was announced back in 2016. It is news again because users of 2015 face loss of merchant payments and bank connections and payroll at the end of this month and upgrading now to 2016 only gives them one year reprieve.

But in the Community some have indicated that a 2019 version is in the works due to the overwhelming requests of users like yourself. There is as of yet no official announcement that backs this up

Aha! The true definition of double-entry bookkeeping

"If you decide to switch back, you can pick up from where you left off in the software. Anything you entered into QuickBooks Online will need to be re-entered into your QuickBooks Desktop software. We recommend entering transactions into both programs until you decide to stay with QuickBooks Online"

Or is that quadruple-entry, lol

QuickBooks Online exports transactions via an ActiveX control. Those only function on the Windows OS. It is possible to export to QuickBooks Windows Desktop on the Windows OS and then export from there to QuickBooks Mac.  But obviously that requires having several versions of QuickBooks and Windows and Mac OS.
