So just upgraded to high Sierra and am now having problems accessing Quickbooks 2016 for Mac desktop.  I use a server to share a file and can no longer open the shared file.  I can only open file if I don't access the server.  This only started since upgrading to high Sierra.  Very frustrating.  Please help.  I am on R21 versions for both quickbooks and server.

I have updated R21 and having Backup Failure error.

QuickBooks was unable to back up your company file.  QuickBooks could not create a disk image.

I am currentely running V17.2.20 R21 Build 570 on MacBook Pro 15in 2015 modal with High Sierra.

Backup failure on High Sierra is caused by a comma in your file name. Edit your file name in the Finder to remove the comma (it could other characters, too, but that's the one we've noticed so far).  We'll fix that soon.

Probably with the server - you are likely running an older version of the QuickBooks Server. When you launch the server choose QuickBooks->Check For Updates within the server and apply them.  Maybe you've got several copies of the server on your hard drive but I'm hoping just doing that will solve it.

There's a bug where a comma in the name of the backup file will cause it to fail on High Sierra. We are filing a bug with Apple and will issue a fix that works around it.  In the mean time you can change your company file name in the Finder to not have any commas in it.

1) After upgrading to R21 and High Sierra, report windows no longer have Options / Header-Footer, etc.  All I see is dates, hide header and collapse.  As a workaround, I can go to Preferences / Reporting and set "Display Report Options window automatically".  2) The fact that I'm a cash company and all detail reports default to Accrual is SO annoying, having to set it every time.  3) I hope when I get access to Header again, that I can add an indication of "Cash Basis" to every report, because sending the wrong thing to the accountant causes problems.

After upgrading to R21, your report headers should be showing slightly smaller toolbar icons that are positioned a little higher up in the window up in the same horizontal plane as the familiar window controls for close, hide and zoom.  You should see a "Options" icon that looks like a little wrench and screw driver crossing each other to make an X.  Do you now see toolbar icons up along the top of the window?

There have been customers who would like to see a "Detail Report Basis" preference along with the existing "Summary Report Basis" preference.  I will add another vote from you for such a preference.

How to fix QB-Mac 2016 Backup? It no longer works as of 9-Nov-17 with upgrade to 17.2.22 R23. I have a Macbook Pro/High Sierra 10.13.1. Disc space is 185Gb. Prior to upgrade, I have had only very intermittent issues that would be fixed by a retry. No longer. Backup fails every time. I do not have a comma in the file name. Help please?

Try File->Utilities->Rebuild.  Beyond that, is your disk an SSD or Hard Drive? How many transactions do you have in QuickBooks (this is visible by hitting command-1)
