It looks like something went wrong on our end. We couldn't adjust the inventory starting value of this item. Please try again later. Error code: (-12411)

I keep getting this error while attempting to delete an inventory item that should be in there. I cannot delete the item and the value keeps throwing off our reports.

Thanks for the screenshots, @kishvalleyroofin.

I'm here to help you remove the error messages that you're receiving in QuickBooks Online and get your Inventory back on track.

First, you'll have to follow the second error message and choose an account to link to the Inventory Item. You can either restore the delete account or connect it to a different account. You can reach out to your accountant for advice on which account to link to the Item. I've provided steps below on how to restore an account:

  1. Click the Accounting tab in the left-hand menu, then Chart of Accounts.
  2. In the Chart of Accounts table, click the Gear icon at the upper right corner.
  3. Put a checkmark in the Include Inactive box.
  4. Find the specific account you like to restore and click the Make active option at the far right.

Now that you have your account active again, go back to the Inventory Item and make it Active. Once everything is active, you'll be error-free. Now you can change the Quantity On Hand and make any other necessary changes with ease.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate and reach back out to me! I'm always here to help you any way that I can. Have a nice day.

Good morning, @kishvalleyroofin

Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community.

I recommend clearing the cache from your web browser. Web browsers collect cache (cookies) to save you time when loading repetitive data and images. These files can often become outdated or corrupted, causing issues like the one with your error message. I've included the links for all supported browsers that contain the steps for clearing cache below.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I'll be here to lend a helping hand every step of the way. You can always reach out to the Community or me anytime you need assistance. Take care!

I use firefox and tried clearing the cache.  Now I am getting the following:

The next thing I have done was try to change it back to an active inventory item. Then this message shows up:
