I'm here to help you bring up your historical data into QuickBooks, parkwaypal.

Just a heads up, there can be limitations when moving historical data since desktop and online have different features. For QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), we can manually import the transaction for the dates that we want. I suggest saving the data through our supported file format (CSV).

Once converted, here's how to import them:

  1. Let's log in to your QBSE account
  2. Click the Gear icon at the upper-right.
  3. Select Imports
  4. At the bottom, select the import transactions link.
  5. Click Browser to locate and open the saved file.
  6. Let's make sure that the column name matches the imported file.
  7. Click Continue and then OK

If we're using another QuickBooks Online plan instead of QBSE, we can look into these references on how to move our data and those that won't be converted.

I'm here if you need more help. Just mention my name. Thanks!

@parkwaypal

Utilize the 3rd party tool to export your transaction data and list to CSV files.

Catherine, a similar question. We just purchased Desktop Pro 2020 with the intent to use it for our small business. Since we can only use it on one computer we are considering using the online essential option instead. Can the history in our program be migrated to the online version, and can we return the recently purchased item? *we opened the business in January 2020 so recreating the content would not be impossible. Thanks - Salena

@SMcAlister

First, open your QBO account

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/US

https://quickbooks.grsm.io/us-promo

Then migrate your data file from QB Desktop to QB Online

go to menu File > Utilities > Copy Company File for QuickBooks Online

Keep in mind about the limitation of migration.

Once it is migrated, ask for the fund if you are still eligible

Good luck!
