- Our QB 2019 is up-to-date on both computers
- Hosting it on one computer, then sharing folder of the QB file for another computer
- Both computers have i7 Gen processers
- Linksys EA9300 Router, with the newest Spectrum Modem
- QB walk through on the setup of both computers
- QB works on both computers alone perfectly
- Talked to ACER to speed up the computer, turn off performance on all graphics etc etc
- Had QB try to do different tests to see why there is a lag
Problem: Once multi-user mode is used, it will take 15-25 seconds to save an invoice, and overall performance of QB just slows down to a grinding halt.
Any ideas? Anyone that ran into the same problem was able to fix it?
Hi there, @Erss.
I'm here to help check the lag/loading issue when saving invoices in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
QuickBooks' performance decreases as the size of the company file increases. There are no actual limits on the size of your company data file, however, performance may be hindered if your network is not capable of handling large data files. To resolve QBDT performance issues, you may check this article: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues: Manage your computers.
You may need to check your network connection or configure firewall security settings.
To configure firewall security settings for Desktop, you can check it here: Configure firewall security settings for Desktop.
However, if the same thing happens, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team to check and investigate this further. For the support's contact information:

Thanks, maybe its because of the file... but then again if multi-user mode works only for companies that have a certain amount of data on the file, then why are we sold on multi-user mode to think that it actually will work.
100% not the firewall, already taken the entire firewall off when working with QB.
Thanks for reaching back out to us, @Erss.
Allow me to join this conversation and provide additional steps to get this lag issue in your QuickBooks sorted out.
You can try saving a copy of your company file on your computer then open it to see if it has a lag behavior. If so, you can try running the QuickBooks File Doctor which can solve some of your network issues.
To do that:
For more details about these steps, please refer to this article: QuickBooks File Doctor - Fix your Damaged Company File or Network.
You can also visit this link about the recommended networks for QuickBooks to check the network retirements: Recommended networks for QuickBooks.
If the issue persists after trying this procedure, I'd suggest reaching out to our Technical Team. They have the necessary tools such as screen-sharing that can help better isolate the issue.
To reach them:
Please let me know how it goes. I'll be around if I can be of additional assistance. Wishing you and your business continued success.
Thanks for the help.
When QB is running on single user mode, on the "hosting" computer or on the other computer, both will run smooth. No Lag. Only in multi-user mode, QB slows down to a grinding halt.
Thanks for getting back, Erss.
As what my other colleagues replied earlier, there are different factors why we encounter performance issues in QuickBooks:
The first thing we need to ensure is that you meet the system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2019. For your reference, you can click here.
Before we do any troubleshooting steps, make sure your QuickBooks release is up to date.

To fix the data and user profile damages, you can follow the steps in this article:
Some of these articles are already provided by my colleagues' earlier replies.
We'd also appreciate if you can provide a screenshot and error codes/messages so we can further check on this. Thanks in advance!
Just like the reply to your colleague.
- Data file not damaged, and we save daily
- Used QB Doc on both computers, both the file and network are good to go
- Both computers have above the requirements for 19 QB
- Firewall was taken off completely
- Multi-user mode was setup by QB agent in the beginning. Then, multiple times to try to get this resolve. We also had ACER, and MS trying to speed up thing.
- Have deleted profile user
Conclusion is that when files are too big, multi-user mode doesn't function at a speed that is acceptable by reasonable person. I hope we are wrong, but every option available was tried and still didn't solve the issue.

I have. When this issue was first noticed, we were on the phone with Quickbook support for literally hours. They went through everything, and we talked to multiple customers service agents from QB.
In the end they told us, we need to hire a IT person to look at our network.
