Moving from QB for Mac 2016 trial to QB 2019

Last year I used 2016 QB for Mac to set up a business. At that time I didn't purchase QB because I was able to get the work done in 30 days. Now I need to get into that file so I purchased 2019 QB for Mac. My trial version sees the files I created but the 2019 version doesn't. But I can't open the files with the 2016 trial version. When I choose the file, it says I have to purchase the software. I did that but the 2019 version doesn't see the files. I've searched my directories but can't find the files I created last year.

Is there a way to discover where the files are located? Because I was using a trial version were the files I created put in a hidden directory?

I can recreate the information but would love the actual file.

The default would be your documents folder but do a search from a finder window or spotlight for .qb2016
