My ink is too thick on the default settings, smears when printing

I have the steps you can perform to remove the smears when printing forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @lake4

Here are the possible reasons you're getting smears when printing the transactions in the program:

  • The printer settings have too much density level.
  • The Adobe Reader/Acrobat isn't updated.

To help fix this, let's first manually set the Density Adjustment to Normal. This way, the density level of each character on the printed form won't smear. Please take note that this depends on the brand of the printer and computer you're using. I'll guide you how.

  1. Open the Start menu or Control Panel on your computer.
  2. Select Hardware and Sound and click Devices and Printers
  3. Right click your Printer icon.
  4. Choose Printing Preferences.
  5. Hit Advanced
  6. Click the Other Print Options button.
  7. Select Density Adjustment from the left menu.
  8. Uncheck the Printer Default box
  9. Set the Density Adjustment to Normal.
  10. Click OK

The screenshot below shows you the last four steps.

Second, let's update the Adobe Reader to the latest version. Doing so will help you fix the smears on the printed forms. Here's how:

  1. Launch the Adobe program.
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. Select Check for Updates.
  4. Download and install the latest updates in the Updater window.

Once done, you can print the forms again.

I recommend visiting this resource hub if you're using Windows: Fix QBO Printing Issues On Browsers. It contains solutions to resolve each printing scenario in the software. For Safari in Mac, use this article instead: Troubleshoot Printing Problems

I'm here to lend you a helping hand if you have other concerns. Take care always, @lake4
