Hi there, @janice-mcduff.

It's possible that the data in QuickBooks Online (QBO) wasn't deleted that's why your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) files aren't migrated to QBO. Let me share with you the process and help you from there.

When migrating files from QBDT to QBO, your QB Online must be a blank account. This way, you can move your data successfully. In this case, you'll have to purge your QBO files first to delete the current data you have in your Online account.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Edit the URL on the address bar. remove everything after app/and enter purgecompany. For example: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany
  3. Click Yes to confirm the action.
  4. On the next page, select Wipe data.

I'm adding this article for more information: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can now proceed with migrating your data from QBDT to QBO. For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you need clarification about this, or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day.
