.net framework

Hi,

I have tried everything I can find to fix my .net framework.   Enabled, disabled, tried download newer versions.

I am at wits end and so is my computer geek.

New computer, hp, running windows 10.

Would updating to windows 11 fix the problem?

For all purposes, the machine is running fine.  It is only about 4 months old.  NO other programs have had this issue.

QuickBooks Desktop works with Microsoft programs to run web-based apps, such as Microsoft .NET Framework. QuickBooks may not work properly when .NET Framework has an issue. It can be a system file corruption, or the Microsoft .NET Framework installation is corrupt.

 

You'll need to fix it manually but before that, please check this article link for you to be guided on QuickBooks Desktop errors: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors. If you experience the same thing refer to the steps below for your operating system.

 

For Windows 10, 8.1, and 8.

 

  1. Make sure to close all of your programs.
  2. Go to the Windows Start menu.
  3. Type "Control Panel" and click Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Choose Uninstall a Program. Don't worry, you aren't uninstalling anything.
  6. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  7. Find .NET Framework on the list.

 

Then, check the settings for both .NET Framework 4.5 (or later) and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Steps to fix .NET. Framework 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, and 4.8 are the same.

 

Check if the .NET Framework 4.5 (or later) checkbox isn't checked:

 

  1. Tick the checkbox to turn on .NET Framework 4.5 (or later).
  2. Click OK to save your changes.
  3. Restart your computer.

 

However, if the .NET Framework 4.5 (or later) checkbox is already checked:

 

  1. Tick the checkbox to turn off .NET Framework 4.5 (or later). Don't turn it back on.
  2. Click OK to save your changes.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. When you're signed in back into Windows, go back to the steps to turn on .NET Framework 4.5 again.

 

Then, proceed checking if the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 checkbox isn't checked:

 

  1. Click the checkbox to turn on .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
  2. Hit OK to save your changes.
  3. Restart your computer.

 

Follow these steps if the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 checkbox is already checked:

 

  1. Click the checkbox to turn off .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Don't turn it back on.
  2. Hit OK to save your changes.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. When you're signed in back into Windows, go back to the steps to turn .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on again.

If an error is encountered when turning .NET Framework on or off. I suggest consulting an IT professional or Microsoft. The problem may be related to your operating system, not QuickBooks.

.net framework

I did those steps, enable, disable, restart..... then, my computer guy did all the steps plus the tool hub thing.  We got a huge log of things from the tool but have no idea what to do with them and the tool neve said it fixed anything.  So it did not help.  

Your answer is good but it did not address my question, will installing windows 11 fix the .net problem?

It would be preferable if you updated the Windows components. Before installing the update on your QuickBooks Pro, please make sure that your computer meets the requirements to avoid issues along the process. 

 

I'm adding this link where you can check the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QBDT Pro 2020: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

 

Once the download is finished re-open QuickBooks and make sure to run it as the administrator. You can also set the program for automatic updates. . Here's an article for more detailed information: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
