Opening sample files error

I need to open sample files for a class that I am in and when I try to open sample files, I get this error:

"The company file you selected cannot be found. You can try one of the following:

  • Choose choose the 'Open or Restore Company...' command from the 'File' menu to look for this file in a different directory. (or)
  • Use the 'Find' tool from the Windows 'Start Menu' to search for this file in your computer.

What kind of file should I be looking for? Any ideas on where it might be located?

Opening sample files error

You encounter this error if the company file was moved or renamed, TrinidadCoastalLandTrust.

You can still find the sample files. I'll help you locate it.

We have two different steps depending on the scenario. You can check this article for detailed instructions. Then select either if you're using the file over the network or you're accessing the file locally on the same computer

If you're able to find the file, you can already open it in QuickBooks.

Although, if you're unable to find them, you can easily create and open portable company files in QuickBooks Desktop. It's a compact version of a file that's small enough to send in an email or USB.
