I’m hoping someone can help me! I recently had to upgrade my MacbookPro OS and when I did my QB 2015 desktop version stopped being accessible. So I then purchased QB online as that made the most sense. Fine. Except how can I access my old QB files and import all the data from 2015 version as I can no longer open it and all the tutorials I’ve found have you export some sort of online file but since I can’t even open 2015 QB, I can’t!
it’s like a circle of hell. Lol
please help! I have a recent backup of my qb but again, apparently not what is needed to upload to the online? I’m so confused.

Since you last accessed your company file on QuickBooks Mac 2015, you'll need to download a copy of our trial version for QuickBooks Mac 2016, perform a upgrade to the file, then export its data into QuickBooks Online.
I've included a detailed resource about converting from Mac to Online which may come in handy moving forward: Convert a QuickBooks Mac Desktop file to QuickBooks Online

@ZackE I followed the link you had for the 2016 desktop, but when I try to open it after it's installed I keep getting this message:
I have made sure that the OS I'm running (Big Sur) is updated, and downloaded it again and installed and the same thing happens when I try to open it.
When I click on details it shows me this:
Appreciate any help in getting this to work!
You should install the trial license for QBD 2021.
then you can migrate your data to QBO US version
@Fiat Lux - ASIA it ALMOST worked!! I was able to download the trial of 2021. And I was able to import the backup I had most recently done! And all my stuff seems to be there! Hurrah! And when I go to export for online, it seems to go well, says it's ready to move to online, until I log in to my online account and then it starts the process....then I get this.....
Make sure you have a new blank QBO US account. Otherwise, you should purge it or purchase a new one if you are using QBO Simple Start. Then check your Total Targets in your QB Desktop file and make sure the numbers are below 350K prior to migrate it to QBO. Run the Condense Data utility to lower it if required.
@Fiat Lux - ASIA sadly it's still not working! My Targets are under 12,000 (I ran condense data anyway to condense anything over 5yrs) and everything shows as fine and good to go until it starts to bring it into online and the I get that same message. My online account is brand new so has nothing in it, so it blank as I only signed up/set it up yesterday. I'm so frustrated! Any help or insight truly appreciated. I'm happy I can access my QB again, but don't want to pay for 2021 desktop when I just signed up for online! I don't need both! (I'm a very small business)
@Fiat Lux - ASIA a trial as in a whole new account with a different email?
I don’t know what a sample or dummy file is either. Sorry to be such a newb. I’ve been using QB for almost a decade but only use and understand about 5% of it. Just for tax stuff (no payroll or anything fancy)
If your paid account is QBO Simple Start, you won't be able to purge it. That's why we recommend you opening a trial account QBO for this test. You can use the same email address or use another one.
Then run your QBD 2021 until you see thee "No Company Open" windows. Hit the "Open a sample file" button.
