QB 2018 Pro Update

I need to get into the Merchant Service Center but QB is telling me that is no longer available unless I download the most recent update. The last time I downloaded an update (October of last year) it was a disaster. The problem involved emailing invoices. The "View and pay invoice" button would not appear on the invoice emails, so customers could not pay their invoices with QB Payments. I spent multiple sessions and many hours on the phone with the Intuit tech support, to no avail.  The problem was only resolved (after weeks and weeks) when I bought a new computer and had to reinstall QB on it.

After that experience, I turned off the automatic update feature and now am very gun shy about any updates. I guess my question is; has anybody had any problems related to a recent update to QB 2018 Pro?

Let me help share some information about updating QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to the latest release.

We haven't received any similar reports about this issue. Updating QuickBooks to the latest release helps ensure both Merchant and QuickBooks services are compatible.

Let's manually update your QuickBooks so you'll be able get into the Merchant Service Center. Here's how:

  1. Close your company file(s), then close QuickBooks.
  2. Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop, then select Run as administrator.
  3. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu, then choose Update QuickBooks...
  4. Go to the Options tab, select Mark All. then select Save.
  5. Go to the Update Now tab, then mark the Reset Update box.
  6. Select Get Updates button.
  7. When Update Complete appears, close QuickBooks Desktop.
  8. Reopen QuickBooks Desktop. If you get the message to install update, select Yes.
  9. When the installation is complete, restart your computer.

Since you've turn off the Automatic Update feature, I recommend manually updating your QuickBooks once a month.

That should do it! Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have other questions about the Merchant or QuickBooks Service. I'll be around to help.

Re: QB 2018 Pro Update

Hi,

I ran QuickBooks pro 2018 update last week and have had problems on a windows 7 pc.  2018 worked well and stable until after the update r12p  ( r12_23 ) was completed.

Here is what happened - after the install I get a 2nd row of icons below file - view- list  etc,

the 2nd menu line starts with home - my company - income traqcker - bill tracker  etc in a left - right menue line that is dark blue.

That is not all - this menu line sometimes turns into a light blue horizontal line under file - edit view - etc. and has a dark blue vertical bar in this light blue bar about 1 inch from the left side of the top of screen.  This dark blue vertical bar has 2  >> symbols in it.

I never know what will come up when opening the company file - light or dark blue menu bar. light blue - no icons - dark blue has 14 icons.

But wait - there is more.

I run 2 separate company files on 18 pro and until this r12 p update, both company files ran smooth ( not at the same time )they have only the one icon line - file - edit - view etc.

but wait  - there is still more.

one company file will sometimes have the dark blue icon line when opening and sometimes it has only a light blue line.

The other company file always has the 2nd light blue line below the file edit view icon line. never a dark blue 2nd icon line.

I have screen shots saved to show the variation on the 2 company files.

What happened after running the r12p update on windows 7 pc - I do not know, to cause this variation in the 2nd icon bar.

Is there suppose to be a 2nd icon bar that has home - my computer - income tracker etc.

I have never seen this extra icon line until after the latest update to qb pro 2018.

Would you venture a guess as to what has happened?

I can upload the screen shots if I knew where to upload them to.

thanks

hi @dsmroy ,

Consider to upgrade your Win 7 first prior to troubleshoot your QuickBooks. Microsoft will cease its support in Jan 2020. Just my 2 cents.
