Join nowI have qb 2013 premier contractors edition. It has worked well for years but I am being forced to upgrade.
I installed qb 2020 desktop premier with no trouble. I did a stand alone install so now I have both qb 2013 and 2020. QB 2020 converted my files without a hitch however I cannot send my invoices anymore in either program.
I use aol... I used smtp.aol.com and 587 for the port. I tried both selecting ssl/tls and also tried it without selecting ssl/tls.
I cannot get this to work. I get a message that says cannot connect to the server and they give 3 reason why this is happening. This is with ssl/tls selected
When the ssl/tls box is unchecked I get a wrong password message. Yes, my email password is correct-- like I said it has worked before.
I wondering what I have to do to let quickbooks send it for me- I assume there is no fee. Correct?
BTW, I also tried gmail and thru outlook. Outlook says it sent it but it never got to where it was supposed to go
Good afternoon, @Dennis888.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
Different things can cause this issue. One cause is an application installed on your computer, such as an anti-virus or security program, that's not allowing the servers that QuickBooks needs to send emails through these webmail applications.
I suggest checking your servers, you can do so by referring to this link that contains information: Connect your email to QuickBooks Desktop
I want to ask if you've sent invoices using Web Mail?
You may wish to consider contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team as they can do a screen share and look over your settings and troubleshoot through a screen share as well.
Let me know if the information provided works. You can do so by replying down below. I hope you have a good rest of your day!
Thank you for your reply but I don't see how an antivirus would cause this issue being that it has been working fine until I load qb 2020
I looked at my old settings and they are the same as the ones I am using so no surprise that neither is working now.
I really thought I was using qb for the mailing of invoices but I am not certain
Sending sales forms is easy in QuickBooks Desktop, Dennis888. You can either send one or many invoices.
Let me help you send these invoices.
In addition to what Kendra H shared, the most common cause is the anti-virus blocking the invoices to be sent. That's why we advise our users to turn them off.
If it's turned off, open and log in to your AOL account before sending the invoices.
If you're still unable to send them, though. I'd suggest reaching out to our customer care support. An agent will take a better look at your issue. Here's how:

Unfortunately I spent an hour with the pros who were not helpful at all. The problem was the anti virus which worked fine with qb 2013.
I am using the free avg anti-virus program and there is a setting for email. I unchecked the box that stated scan emails before sending and now I can send invoices.
Thanks for the help
