QuickBooks Database Server Manager runs in the background at random times and slows my whole computer. How do I stop this?

I do not use the Multi User feature, nor do I use the QB app on another device.

Shiella, I am still having the same problem.  When I followed the advise above, there is no program "QuickBooks Database Server Manager" to remove.  When my computer slows to a crawl and Run Task Manager, the "Intuit Personal Database Manager" is running.  I even closed QuickBooks to use another program and it was still running in the background!  I had to restart my computer.  Since I installed Windows 10 I have had nothing but problems with QuickBooks Pro!  I am a LONG time user!

Hello beckybillingsley and Alireza355

Let's work together to resolve your QuickBooks Database Server Manager issue. This issue can be fix by uninstalling and reinstalling QuickBooks Desktop.

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows+R to open the Run command.
  2. Type in Control Panel, then select OK.
  3. Select Programs and Features.
  4. In the list of programs, select QuickBooks, then select Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

You'll need to Download QuickBooks Desktop to get your copy. If you've already downloaded it, proceed to step 2.

  1. Select the QuickBooks executable file (e.g. QuickBooksPro2017.exe) found on your desktop.
  2. Select Yes to All if How do I update my data to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop? prompted to overwrite the existing extracted files.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Read the Software License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  5. Enter your License and Product numbers, then select Next.
  6. Select Custom and Network Options as the type of installation for the computer.
  7. Select I'll be using QuickBooks on this computer.
  8. Choose a new install location and click Next.
  9. Select Install to continue.

If any QuickBooks processes were running during the installation, the installer may ask you to restart your computer. Otherwise, select Open QuickBooks to get started!.

Hi. I uninstalled QuickBooks Desktop enterprise 18 and installed a fresh 2019 version. The problem is still there.

To make sure I got rid of any traces of QuickBooks from my computer, I went through the windows registry and deleted anything QuickBooks and Intuit. I then installed a fresh 2019 version but the problem is still there.

This thing happens every one hour. It slows my computer down significantly. I have to run task manager and kill the SQL Anytime and QuickBooks Automatic backup (I may not have the names correct right now but something in this neighborhood).

I am sure I have not set up any schedules for any kind of automatic backup but this keeps happening.

Hello there, @Alireza355.

I'm here to help check this further for you and resolve the performance issue with your QuickBooks.

The company file may be the root cause with the performance issues of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). QuickBooks' performance decreases as the size of the company file increases. There are no actual limits on the size of your company data file, but performance may be hindered if your network is not capable of handling large data files.

If you have a large file and performance is slower than what is needed, you can reduce the size of your company file.

In addition, you'll need to make sure that your QBDT and the Database Server Manager on the host or server, are up to date.

If the issue persists, you may need to optimize your server and workstations to help minimize the issue. For the detailed process, you may check it here: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues - Manage your computers.

If you need further assistance with the process, you may get in touch with our QuickBooks Support Team. For the support's contact information:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. Select your QuickBooks version.
  4. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  5. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Let me know if you have any other QuickBooks concerns, I'll be right here to help you. Have a great day ahead!
