Join nowI have Desktop Pro 2017 on a PC and need to transfer the company file to a new version of Desktop for Mac. Can anyone point me to the exact steps I'll need to follow in order to get my old PC company file ready to be transferred to this more current Desktop for Mac? It seems like I might need to do more than just just make sure my 2017 Windows version is updated, then "Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac..." Any guidance will be very appreciated!
You can try to copy the file for QBD Mac and restore it on your Mac. If you run into errors, consider installing a trial license for QBD 2019 on both your machines to convert files and upgrade them on your Mac.
I’m here to help so you can transfer your company file successfully to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @KD in CO.
You’ll want to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2017 first to the 2022 version before moving your company file to QuickBooks for Mac. You can use the trial version so you won't need to subscribe.
Once done, you can now convert your data. I’m glad to show you the steps.
After, you’ll want to restore the MAC.qbb backup on your Mac. Here’s how:
You can use this reference for complete instructions: Convert a QuickBooks for Windows file to QuickBooks for Mac. It includes details about unsupported reports and filters.
Moreover, our Support page for Mac provides more information on how to handle your data, especially sales and expenses. It also includes videos and resources for more detailed tips and tricks.
I’ll be here anytime to help if you have any other questions or concerns besides transferring data. Have a good one and always take care!
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, after going through all of that to download the Trial version you linked to, the option for "Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac" does not appear when I go to Utilities. I can copy the file for QB Online, or Move QB to another computer, but not make a file for Mac. Please tell me how to proceed.

Which QBD trial version do you have? QBD 2022 US Enterprise edition?
