Has anyone had luck getting Quickbooks online desktop app to run in a terminal/Citrix server environment? If I install it as my administrator account, it works fine. But when launching it as a user, it just results in a Quickbooks Launcher error. And if I run that download as the user when elevated to an admin on the local server, it still results in the same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello there, jmv5010.
Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Community. Let me help you get past the error so you’ll be to launch QuickBooks successfully.
I’ve looked into this further and didn’t find any open investigations about the issue. Microsoft V C++ is one of the Microsoft components that QuickBooks uses to properly run the program on a Windows computer.
The error message may appear when the component is damaged or replaced with a different version that is not compatible with your QuickBooks version.
To help you get back on track, make sure to download and install the Visual C++ Redistributable Package. To guide you through the steps, please visit this website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30679.
Next, let’s begin the process of reinstalling the QBO application. You'll find the detailed instructions by clicking on this link and going directly to the How do I install the app? section: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac.
That'll do it. The steps will get you moving today.
Be sure to let me know if you have concerns working in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Wishing you the best.
I tried the steps outlined and the issue remains. (This post is showing as jmv50101 because QB wasn't recognizing my JMV5010 account).
Quickbooks online is launching if using a domain account with local admin rights on the Windows 2012R2 server, but not as an end-user. The VC++ continues to prompt. And when I select to download, I get the message that it is already installed.
Is there another executable for Quickbooks online that is needed for a Citrix environment?
Would a remote session work better?
I want to share some insights about using the QuickBooks Online app.
The QuickBooks app is specifically designed to work locally for Windows and Mac. To learn more about the system requirements, feel free to visit the article attached down below:
Since you're unable to access the app through the Citrix/Terminal server, I encourage you to visit our Intuit Developer Forum. In this website, you'll be able to interact with our product developers, product experts, and engineers.
I'm here anytime you have additional question with running the app through the server. Wishing you all the best.
I am having the same issue. VC++ error even when ran as administrator. In a secure environment, automatic updates are not allowed and must be performed manually by IT. Every time the quickbooks online app updates away from the VC++ compatibility, I have to put the update on a flash drive and manually update each workstation. How do i turn these updates off??
Thanks for joining the conversation, @dlw0028.
The VC ++ Redistributable Package is an installation on Microsoft which allows you to run applications. In other instances, you may need to manually reinstall/update the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, which is required for the server to run. Visual Studios VC++ must be present in order for the program to successfully install.
To help resolve the issue, I recommend following the suggestion provided by my colleague @Rasa-LilaM, which is to ensure to download and install the Visual C++ Redistributable Package.
Take a look at this website to guide you through the steps: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30679.
Post again in the Community if you need anything else. I'm here to help. Have a good one!
I have downloaded and installed VC++ on all workstations on at least 3 separate occasions. How do I prevent Quickbooks Online app from updating and rendering the VC++ package incompatible?
In some cases, you may need to manually update the VC++ runtime, which is required for the server to run. Since you'll need to prevent the system to update automatically, I'd recommend reaching out to our Online Technical Support.
This way, they can access your account in a secure environment and thoroughly check this out using their tools. You can click on this link on how to contact them: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team.
