We've been alerted about this issue in the desktop app, sumutek.

 

Our engineers are still gathering more details about this error to come up with an immediate fix. We've identified five solutions that can help you get past the error for now.

 

Here are the steps:

  1. Under the QuickBooks menu, click Sign Out.
  2. If that menu item is disabled or doesn’t work, click the Help menu, and then choose Reset App Data.
  3. Open the Keychain Access application (in the Utilities folder). On the left side, click Passwords.
  4. In the upper right search field, type Intuit ID. Delete any password that starts with Intuit ID.
  5. If that doesn’t work, restart your computer and then double check your network connection by going to apple.com (for Mac users) in a web browser.

If you're still getting the same error, I'd suggest switching to a supported browser to access QuickBooks Online instead of the Desktop app.

 

While we're working on this, it would be best to get in touch with our Customer Care Team. They can add you to the list of affected users so you'll receive an update once this issue is resolved. We will send the updates on your email address associated with your Intuit account.

The Keychain Access is only available for Mac computers. Since you're using Windows, skip that step and proceed to step 5.

  1. Go to https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select your QuickBooks version.
  3. Click Search for something else, and then type question in the field.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Click Get Phone Number.

In the meantime, you'll want to access your account using a supported web-browser.

I have just started having this problem in the past week or so. I can access QB fine through my browser but not the Windows App which is my preferred method.

The app may need some updates, PinnacleSurveying.

 

The app stores cache files that can sometimes cause unexpected behavior. Let's ensure that the app is updated. You can also uninstall and reinstall the app to refresh the system. 

 

You can open this link to begin the process: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/apps/. Scroll down to the Get the QuickBooks Mac or Windows App section, and then click the Free Download button. After the download is complete, you'll see a shortcut icon for QBO on your screen. Simply click it and log in using your username and password, and you're good to go.

Since the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our Support team. They have the proper tools to securely check your account and investigate the reason why you’re unable to log in through the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Windows App.

 

To contact them, log in to your QBO account using a regular web browser and go to the (?) Help menu. Let me show you how. 

 

  1. Go to the (?) Help icon.
  2. Select the Search tab.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter a brief discussion of your concern and click Continue.
  5. Select either Chat with us (if you preferred messaging) or Give us a call.
