Re: Can I move my QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online Self-Employed edition?

Hello, @schwadave1961.

Good to see you here in the Community. Providing you some details about moving from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is my priority.

Currently, there isn't a way to directly move the file from QBDT to QBSE since both versions are on different platforms. However, you have an option to import your bank transactions from QBDT to QBSE account using .CSV file.

To do this, you can follow the detailed steps on how to import our .CSV file:

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Click Imports.
  3. Select Import older transactions on the right for the account you want the transactions to belong to.
  4. Follow the instructions onscreen to finish importing your data.
  5. Click Import.

For future reference, you can also check this article to learn how to manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed to enter your income and expenses.

Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns about entering transactions in QBSE. I'll be around to help. Have a good day!
