Can I upload a chart of accounts excel spreadsheet in Quickbooks for Mac?

Dear Quickbooks Community,

I am on Quickbooks for Mac 2019.

I have an excel spreadsheet with all my accounts in my charts of accounts. How can i bulk upload this spreadsheet into my Quickbook COA rather than entering manually all the accounts?

Best,
JP

Happy to see you here in the Community, dugland.

I'm here to help share information about importing Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you're trying to import your Chart of accounts to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you can do it using the Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) files. These are ASCII text, TSV (Tab-Separated Value) files that QuickBooks Desktop uses to import or export lists or transactions. For a step-by-step instruction on how to create an IIF file, you may check out these articles:

To import, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Go to File, then select Utilities.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Click IIF Files.
  4. Choose Ok.
  5. Click Done.

You can also check out below video for more detailed steps:

That's it! If you have follow up questions, please let know. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!

Re: Can I upload a chart of accounts excel spreadsheet in Quickbooks for Mac?

Thank you very much for your prompt answer.

I understand that it is not possible to import COA in excel/csv but only in IIF format on Mac.
