Let's work together so you can restore the backup file, aboutyou,
Mac has a built-in disk utility that QuickBooks uses to create a DMG (image) file when backing up company files.
You'll want to double-click the .dmg file to mount it. Then, drag the company file from the open window to your documents folder. From QuickBooks, go to File, then Open company and navigate to the file.
If you're getting the same results, we'll need to verify the data to help detect why the button is grayed out, then run rebuild to resolve it. Here's the article that details the steps to run and verify and rebuild utilities: Resolve data damage on your company file.
If the button is still grayed out, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Technical Team. This way, they'll be able to do screen-sharing to help discover where the issue is coming from.
