I appreciate you for getting back to us here in the Community, @sjudy.

We’ve received reports from other users about the error message when connecting an AMEX account. Our engineers are finding a solution to get this feature working back to normal.

As a workaround, I suggest importing your bank transactions manually into the system. You can download the data from your financial institution's website and upload it to QuickBooks through these steps:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu. Then select the Banking tab.
  3. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  4. Select the Update ▼ and then File upload.

While waiting for the permanent fix, we’ll have to include you on the notification list. This is to ensure you receive email updates regarding the resolution status.

They can gather account information in a secure space. The safety of your data is our priority, so I recommend contacting our QBO Care Team.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Help menu in the upper right to open the Search window.
  2. From there, scroll down to click the Contact us link.
  3. This will route you to another window where you can type the issue/topic.
  4. Once done, hit the Let’s talk button.
  5. Under the Choose a way to connect with us section, select how you want to reach out to our support team.
  6. Make sure to provide this number to our support team to expedite the process: INV-46716.

Hello there, sjudy.

The banking error 591 are temporary errors impacting your bank connection and should self resolve within 48 hours. If the account was successfully connected we can disconnect it and reconnect it again.

Let me show you how to disconnect and account:

  1. From the Banking page click the AMEX bank.
  2. Select the pencil icon and click Edit account info
  3. Check the Disconnect this account on save box.
  4. Click Save and Close

We can also perform a few browser troubleshooting steps to get rid of the error. Access QuickBooks and connect the bank account using a private browser. If we were able to connect the account successfully we can switch back to the main browser to clear the cache. We can also use other browsers such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.

Feel free to get back to me if you need anything else. You take care always and have a great day!

Appreciate the response.  Unfortunately this error has been occurring for a week.  I did however try a fresh browser with clean cache... same error.

Appreciate the response, however this has been going on for a week.  I did try again with a fresh browser with clean cache, same error.
