moving QB2015 pro from one W10 pro computer to another W10 pro computer

Hi everyone, hope someone can help, or point me somewhere useful (Other than the pub, which is closed...)

 

I've spent around 3 hours trying to install QB2015 pro (which is fully up to date). I want to move from one laptop to another. My original installation CD didn't work, but that CD says it's forW7 and Vista whereas I've upgraded to W10 Pro on both machines.

 

I've downloaded the installer (which is 2015 Pro R1 (My CD is R3)) and run it and this is where the fun starts. I'm invited to enter my license number and product number which I do, and I double check it each time from the original CD label and from the version installed on laptop 1. It tells me that "You have entered incorrect license product numbers. Please check the numbers carefully" I'm also given the option to "Use your User ID instead" I can't find anything anywhere which tells me what my user ID is. I've tried all of the email addresses that I own but after a few attempts I get thrown out.

 

I've used the QB tool hub and searched for support articles, of which there are several, but nothing seems to get me past this installation phase. Does anyone know what the cause of the problem is and how I can overcome it please?

Let's make sure that the license number you entered matches the product code you purchased. This way, you can easily install QuickBooks on your computer. You can read through this article to learn more: Fix errors when activating QuickBooks, or adding license and product numbers.

 

But if you still receive the same error, you can follow the steps below for other ways to obtain your license number:

  1. Sign in to camps.intuit.com.
  2. Under Products & Services, select QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click Details.

Thanks for your response.

None of my email addresses will let me sign in to CAMPS. I get the message "Hmm… we found your Intuit account, but we couldn’t find any linked QuickBooks products or services." I've followed all the links to claim my account but I just go around in circles.

In my quickbooks I have a customer number which I thought might help me to get access to my stuff but nah...

I know that the product and license keys that I entered at the start of all this is correct. I've checked it against my original CD and against the installed version on laptop 1. All codes are identical.

Trying to follow up through the contact us link is another very frustrating circular process which doesn't provide me with an email address to get support. All very frustrating. I can't even send a message because messages are closed????

They have the tools to check your credentials and help you log in successfully to your Intuit account. Request a callback just spins and doesn't complete so I think a call is necessary.

 

I really  appreciate your input but I am soooo unimpressed with the behaviour not only of the application but of the tragically poor (effectively total lack of) support.

 

There must be a better product out there

Just to make sure, consider install the trial license of QBD 2020 CA version Pro edition and open your file on it.

Spoke with a support person, went over much of the same then was emailed a link to the latest version (R10) of the app. That worked but won't update (Error 15222) despite following all of the suggestions. I've spent (wasted) an entire day to almost accomplish what should have been a simple task.

I'm not convinced that the digital signature is valid as the associated VeriSign certificate expired in 2018.

Not usre that I can invest any more time on this. Thanks to all for your input,

After this it's time to look for something simpler, my needs as a sole trader aren't significant and this experience has been too much. 

I've also just realised that I'm on the US version of the community site rather than UK
