QB Enterprise Freezes and Crashes Frequently When Multiple Users Are In The File

We have been having a lot of problems recently with QB Enterprise being very slow, freezing to the point that it has to be "killed", and aborting users multiple times during a single day. It only seems to be happening when more than 7 or so users are using the same company file simultaneously. Does anyone else experience the same issue? Are there any known solutions?

QB Enterprise Freezes and Crashes Frequently When Multiple Users Are In The File

Hey there, @MariaA.

Thanks for visiting us here in the Community. I'm here to help fix the issue you're getting when multiple users are using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise.

Before we proceed with the troubleshooting steps, it is important to know the necessary system requirements. This will ensure that QuickBooks is compatible with your setup and will help avoid problems when you start using the program.

Now, if you're getting this specific error message "You have exceeded the maximum number of users", you need to follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

Here's how:

1. On the affected workstation, go to Help, then select Manage My License.
2. Choose Sync License Data Online several times in a row until the number of user licenses displays correctly.
3. Restart the affected computer.

Once done, please have the users log back into the company file.

You can also refer to this article for more information: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1752224.

If the issue persists, please check out these articles for more troubleshooting steps:

That should get you fixed right up. But if you're receiving the same result, please let me know so we can try other steps to get this working for you.

QB Enterprise Freezes and Crashes Frequently When Multiple Users Are In The File

Hi there, @SpecialEvents.

Thanks for reaching out to us. I’d like to add to this discussion and help you get this freezing behavior sorted out.

Have you already checked the steps given above? If so, and you’re still having the same issue, I suggest performing the following solutions to resolve the problem.

Let’s start by downloading the QuickBooks Refresher Tool. This ends QuickBooks processes running in the background and performs a mini repair on the program. Here’s how:
1.    Close QuickBooks Desktop.
2.    Download the QBRefresher Tool.
3.    Once the download completes, save the file on your desktop.
4.    Run the tool.
5.    Re-open QuickBooks.

If you continue to get the same result, proceed to the next recommended step which is to use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. This automatically diagnoses and fixes problems with Microsoft components that the program uses.
1.    Download the QBInstall Tool.
2.    Save the file to the local Desktop.
3.    Close all open programs and run the tool.
4.    After running the tool, restart your computer,

You may refer to this article for more information: Solutions for when QuickBooks stops working. Please try all other solutions provided in the article until you resolve the problem.

That should do it. Let me know how it goes by leaving a comment below. Get back to me, and we’ll take it from there. Have a good one!
