My bookkeeper reported that the re-imported employee list did cause some duplication of part of the address in the employee file. She had to manually fix the active '19 employees, and just did not bother with older inactive employee files at this point.

My file is only 151MB for QB Pro 2018 and Started doing the same. Contacted tech support and they helped me via remote log in. Did diagnostic, File repair, Uninstalled & reinstalled. Also tried to verify on the different computer. The problem continued and still there. Tech support was supposed to call me back and no words yet. Before I write this , I ran QB Tool Hub and chose file ... Nothing solved. I have more than one company in the QB, both are identically in use. Only one company has the problem. Ran rebuild : It says Error fixed, but I am not sure its fixing the "Freeze Problem" or Not... File Doctor didn't find any error "

Once done, open and access QuickBooks again.
Also, in your attached screenshot, it says "Warning: Verify Master: totTrans wrong is 23974 Should be 23876". You'll want to verify this transaction and correct its transaction number based on the prompt. This way, you'll get past the rebuild results.

Hello, thank you for the workaround. Doing the export of the employees list and then importing worked for us. But not at first. First we hit the "Import" button on the import dialog, and that reported a number of errors with the IIF file. Then after calling support, we learned that the import has to be done using the link at the bottom of the Import Dialog labelled "Import it for me, I’ll fix it later". And that worked. Hope this helps the next person with this QB problem.
I'm having the same issue and Customer Support wasn't able to help (after 2 hours on the phone). It occurred right after the 2019 upgrade. The Support Tech said they had over 900 cases of this. I can't believe it hasn't been fixed yet. It's payroll! I'm frustrated with QB Support anymore. If I have an issue, it is never resolved.
It is now January 2020, and this is still happening!!! I was on phone over 2 hours also with support
and we got no where. I can't go in and edit my employees section because of the freezing up.
