Upgrading from QB Premier 2014 to 2019

Can you help guide me on the upgrade path from 2014 files to 2019 files? I saw that 2019 Premier allows transfer data from 2016-2018, but doesn't mention anything about prior versions. Thank you!

Upgrading from QB Premier 2014 to 2019

It’s nice to see you in the Community space, LSI360.

I'll show you the path to upgrade your QuickBooks Premiere 2014 to 2019.

Before installing the software, make sure the computer meets the system requirements for the installation process to seamlessly work. Then, create a backup copy of your company files to help avoid accidental loss in the future.

Next, let's begin the process of installing your QuickBooks Premiere 2019. I've prepared an article that will visually guide you through the process step-by-step: Install QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, you can upgrade the company file to a new QuickBooks version. For the detailed instructions, click on this link: Upgrade or convert your company file.

To learn more about the new features and improvements added into the product, check out this link: QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2019.

That'll do it. After following the instructions, the upgraded QuickBooks 2019 is ready to use.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about working in QuickBooks. Please know that I'm just a comment away. Have a good one.

Upgrading from QB Premier 2014 to 2019

Hi,

I am a board member on a non-profit sports league which has been using QB Premier Ed. 2013. We are needing to purchase a new laptop and no longer have the QB 2013 codes to reinstall. We would like to update to Premier 2019, but I would like to make sure it is possible. Our old laptop runs on Windows 8.1 and we will be buying a new Windows 10 Home version. Could you please let me know if this is possible and what the steps needed would be.  I can be reached at [email address removed]

Thanks.

Thank you for joining the thread, @sarmijo.

I'd like to guide you on the right path with your QuickBooks upgrade.

Yes, you can do the upgrade as long as you meet the system requirements for QuickBooks 2019. Here's a helpful info about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements: System requirements for QuickBooks 2019 and Enterprise Solutions 19.0.

Once you ensure you meet all the requirements, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague @Rasa-LilaM

That should do it. For other articles you can use in the future, you may check out our help site: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have additional questions about the upgrade. I want to help however I can.

Upgrading from QB Premier 2014 to 2019

hi @sarmijo ,

Can you still open your data on current version? Press f2 or CTRL + I and a pop up of product information will appear. You may find your license code and the location path of your data file.

If you intend to purchase a new computer and upgrade your data to 2019 version, I would recommend these:

1. Install the trial license of QuickBooks 2019

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/new-subscriptions/download-a-trial-of-quickbooks-d...

2. Open your current file on it. Don't forget to secure a copy of your current file.

3. If you are succeed to convert it, you may purchase a new computer or keep using the current one.

Just my 2 cents.

Upgrading from QB Premier 2014 to 2019

I have a little bit different issue.  I need to upgrade from Quickbooks Accountant 2014 to 2019.  However, I need to do a clean install after formatting my computer drive.  I can't find my 2014 installation disk but I do have my installation KEY.  It was recommended to me that I format the drive, reload 2014, and then upgrade to 2019.  Is there a way for me to reload 2014 under my circumstances?  I have company backups for the files I was using in 2014.  Thanks for any advice you have.

Thanks for looping in, @labguy53.

You can still download QuickBooks Desktop Accountant 2014 without the disk. Make sure your license and product numbers are ready to start the installation process.

Let’s go to the Downloads & Updates page to get the link. Select a Country, Product, and Version, then click Download. Take a look at this article for more details: Download QuickBooks Desktop.

Right after, open the downloaded file (QuickBooks.exe) and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process. Here’s a video tutorial to serve as your guide: How to Install QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, you can start upgrading the company file to a new version. Follow the steps shared by my colleague Rasa-LilaM or check this article: Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version.
