Good to see you here, kyosho.

You're almost there! We can change the expense account when we edit the Paypal settings. I have some steps we can perform to resolve this error.

Log in and edit the Paypal settings through an incognito window. Also, I suggest clearing the cache cause it can also result in errors when using QuickBooks Online. Additionally, make sure that the browser we're using is updated. If you have another browser, you can use it as well.

This is how it looks like when you edit the settings:paypal expense.PNG

I've also added these articles for your reference to know more about this feature:

Thank you, Alex. I see that the Settings in the App ought to be able to be edited. I'm glad to learn that is the expected behavior.

However, using Chrome in an Incognito window did not work. Nor did clearing out the cache and using an incognito window. Nor did switching to the Firefox browser.

In all cases, when I click the Edit pencil, the window freezes. I get a message after a long wait offering to Stop It, because the Script has become unresponsive.

I am the Master Admin, so it does not seem to be a permissions issue.

If you have any other suggestions, I would be glad to learn about them.

Thank you - Frank

Hi Alex - I tried all your suggestions to no avail. The browser Incognito window in Chrome becomes unresponsive when I click the Edit pencil. It also freezes when I clear the cache or switch to Firefox.

If you have any other suggestions, I would be happy to try them.

Thanks - Kyosho

I appreciate you for getting back to us and for performing some troubleshooting steps to edit the settings of your Connect to PayPal app in QuickBooks Online (QBO), kyosho.

You should be able to easily edit the Connect to PayPal app's settings in QBO. Since the issue persists after performing the suggested fix above, I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support team. They can trace the cause of the unusual behavior of the system. Then, walked you trough in updating the expense account for the fee.

You can request a call back by performing these steps:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Select Get a callback.
  6. Enter your contact information.
  7. Select Confirm my call.

I've attached a screenshot below for your reference.

Hi Rea, I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Technical Support yesterday, and they were the ones who advised me to post to the Community. They seemed to feel that my inability to edit the Settings was simply the way the current version of the App works and did not have any further troubleshooting steps to recommend.

I'm not sure where this leaves us, but I don't know what else to try.

Thank you for the update, @kyosho.

There are times that the unusual behavior of the QuickBooks Online (QBO) system is due to the outdated version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat on your computer. Let me guide you in updating your Adobe Reader through the web.

  1. Open Reader.
  2. Choose Help.
  3. Select About Adobe Reader, then take note of your current product version.
  4. Go to the Adobe Reader Downloads page.
  5. If the page indicates a newer version is available, choose Install Now.
  6. Click the downloaded file.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once done, you can log out to QBO. Then, sign back in to make sure the update is implemented. After that, go to the Banking page again to change the app's settings.

Moreover, you can also check out the workaround suggested by Fiat Lux - ASIA above. Utilizing a third-party app to update the Connect to Paypal app settings is applicable as well.

The Connect to PayPal app can support multiple PayPal accounts in QuickBooks. If you wish to know more about how to handle your transactions through it, you can check out this article: Use the Connect to PayPal app. It also contains information about enabling the auto-add feature and details about currency conversion to name a few.

I'll be right here to help if you need further assistance. Wishing you and your business continued success. Take care always.

Hi - I thought you were onto something with Adobe Reader. I installed the newest version and tried to modify the Connect to PayPal app settings. No Go. I got this error message after waiting a minute:

intuit.com is not responding due to a long-running script.

Maybe the app needs a new version?

Thanks -

Hi there - I am having this same issue as of 3/29/2021. I've been trying to edit my PayPal settings for the past few weeks on several different computers with the same result. Has this issue not yet been resolved, and can I please be notified when it is? Thank you!
