Let me share some information about connecting your account to Online banking, jmatayka.

QuickBooks works with thousands of banks and you can connect your business account (whether checking or savings). If you can't find your account on the list of the supported financial institution, it's possible we don't support your bank yet.

In this case, just send a request to add your bank for Online banking. You can check out this article for the steps and details: Problems finding a bank.

While waiting for the approval, please manually import your bank transactions by following the steps in Import transactions from other sources articles.

For more details about connecting your account, refer to this article: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

I've got a link here that provides you with articles about managing your bank feeds: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/banking/07?product=QuickBooks%20Self-Employed.

Keep me in the loop if you need a hand with creating bank rules or any QBSe related. I'll be here to ensure your success. Have a great day ahead.

Good evening, @jmatayka.

There are a few possible reasons why you can’t connect to the bank in QBO:

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links. You can search by the banking login URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs. business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

If you have confirmed the required details, and you still can't find your bank. You'll need to use the Request support your bank option and ask us to add your bank. Let me walk you through the steps:

  1. When you enter your bank and click Find, you'll get the message: Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks.
  2. Click on the button Request support for your bank.
  3. Enter your bank's website in the field provided.
  4. Select Request

For additional reference, you can check this article: How to identify the correct bank.

Alternatively, you can create an account within your Chart of Accounts and manually download the transactions from your bank's website and import them into QuickBooks Online.

So if I have a business account (whether checking or savings), it’s not eligible to link with quickbooks?

The problem unfortunately isn’t that the bank isn’t available. I’ve found the correct bank. The problem is that when I put in the correct information I get the message telling me there is no usable account with that bank although I definitely have a business checking with them. I’m trying to understand why it won’t connect to the account.

Hey RCV, thanks for the prompt response. The problem isn’t that the bank is not available. The bank IS available (Middlesex Federal Savings, F.A.) but when I put in the correct information I get the 103 message. Which is also strange because prior to starting this thread I got a completely different message that stated I had no usable account, not that the information I entered wasn’t correct... even though it’s the same exact bank and login information.

This error 103 occurs when your sign-in credentials don’t match with your bank’s website, @jmatayka.

I want to help, but it seems all possible ways to fix your concern is already provided in this thread.

To get this resolved, I suggest contacting our Technical Support team to check it further. They have tools that can determine the root cause of the issue. Here’s how:

  1. Select the Help (?) menu at the top.
  2. Click Contact us.
  3. Enter “unable to connect bank account” in the field.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Choose to Get a callback.

In the meantime, consider adding them manually from your bank's website and import them into QuickBooks. You can refer to this article for more details: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
