Unable to open QB backup file on mac

I was assured I could go between my laptop and desktop with the 2016 QB for Mac using a jump driver.  However I am unable to open the files.  I am not finding answers for mac users.

You cannot open or restore a Windows file to a Mac, you must use the process below.  You should not do this on a regular basis, just as a one-time thing.

Convert your Windows file to a Macintosh file

  1. Update your version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows to the latest release.
  2. Open the company file in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
  3. Resort your lists.
  4. Rebuild and then Verify the data file.
  5. Go to File > Utilities > Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  6. Save the file wherever you prefer (this creates a file with the extension MAC.qbb).
  7. Send the copy for Mac to the Mac computer using whatever method you prefer (e.g., dvd, external hard drive, flash drive, FTP web site).
  8. Once the file is on the Mac, open QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  9. Go to File > Restore > From a Disk.
  10. Select the copy for Mac, and click Open.
  11. QuickBooks will ask if you want to restore a QuickBooks Desktop for Windows file, click OK .
  12. Enter a name for the restored file, and then click Save.

hi @raoharis ,

I am not sure we can migrate Enterprise edition to Mac. We couldn't downgrade Enterprise to Pro/Premier edition as well. You should consider purchasing a conversion service from third party. I could recommend you one. PM me for details.

Hi,

Its very simple to just backup the company in windows and shift it to Mac which also stated in the Q&A on your website then why I have no option in Quickbook Enterprise 2019 to copy my file for Mac ?

hi @raoharis ,

Did you find this menu?

Go to File > Utilities > Copy Company File for QuickBooks Mac Desktop

If we couldn't find this feature on Enterprise edition, that means Intuit does not allow us to do so.

Yes this option.

If there is no option then why its mention on the website ?? if QuickBooks does not allow the export or conversion then why there is Mac version?

hi @raoharis ,

You can find it in Pro/Premier edition. You should consider installing the Pro edition trial license to get the picture. Just my 2 cents.
