Unable to process cards using GoPayment due to "Location Error". Tried uninstall, reinstall, tried both our audio jack and Bluetooth readers... Please help if had same!

Hello, I have been unable to process cards using GoPayment due to "Location Error". Tried uninstall, reinstall, tried both our audio jack and Bluetooth readers... Please help if had same! Using Samsung Note 5 on Verizon with most recent updates. Exact message says...

"Payment Canceled

You can take payments if you change your device's
location setting to use GPS, Wi-Fi, and Mobile networks."

Which I have done multiple times, tried adjusting volumes, mute, vibrate.
Always the same result. Tried Wi-Fi as well as Verizon Network.
Does not seem to matter what I try.

Please help!

Thank you

Hello there, adrenalinearmory.

I appreciate you for taking your time providing us with a screenshot of the error you’ve received and the troubleshooting step you’ve applied in your end. I’d be glad to help you sort this out.

To start with, let’s further check the setting of the following:

  • Ensure that Language, Regional, or International settings are set to English or United States.
  • Toggle your location accuracy on or off. Google’s Location services can collect location data from time to time. It uses this data in an anonymized way to improve location accuracy and location-based services for apps.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to your device’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Security & location.
  3. Choose Location.
  4. Tap Advanced.
  5. Select Google Location Accuracy.
  6. Turn Improve Location Accuracy on or off.

Furthermore, in order to process a payment through GoPayment, High Accuracy is required. To make this change, here's how:

  1. Tap device Setting's app.
  2. Select Security & location.
  3. Choose Location.
  4. Tap Mode.
  5. Ensure that it is set to High Accuracy.

Once completed, you can now proceed with receiving payments via GoPayment.

For future references, you may check out this article: I’m having trouble using GoPayment.

If the issue persists, I’d recommend reaching out to our Merchants Services team. They’d be able to look up your account in a secure environment and further check on the error you’ve received.

Keep me posted on how things work on your end. I am always here to help you with processing client payments.

No, still has not worked! Tried all of the above, cleared cache, browsing history, uninstalled / re-installed app. Was on the phone with technical support for over an hour and she ended up saying "I've exhausted all my options, try getting a hold of Verizon...etc". Going to have to find a new processor if it doesn't work.

I had the same problem on a Verizon Android, but I think I found the solution!

My problem was that even though (1) my location service was on and set to High Accuracy (GPS and Network), (2) the GoPayment app had all permissions enabled in my app manager, (3) my system was up-to-date, and (4) I had tired uninstalling and re-installing the GoPayment app, I was still getting the same "Payment Cancelled" message that you were. Even Intuit's first-tier tech support was stumped.

I got the app to work and payments to go through after I opened the Google Maps app and clicked the icon to center the map on my phone's location (previously, it was showing me a map of Colorado, where I'd just been last week). After that, the GoPayment app crashed and I had to restart it, re-login and re-connect the bluetooth card reader. But then, payments were suddenly working!

It seems like Black Googly Magic, but I think this may be THE FIX.

I figured it out but what they did was release some new update. When they did this it now makes you sync and log in to Google location history and Google share location! So you can no longer just turn on the permissions by just simply clicking on the location icon at top of phone you noe have to be logged in and give Google all the permissions too.

Even that ok I can get over that, but not when I get a warning stating that by giving permission this app(go payment) is allowed to access your contacts data, how often you talk to a specific individuals wether via call, email or if you communicated in other ways including the frequency in which you communicate with specific individual contacts and allows app to save contacts data and MALICIOUS APPS MAY SHARE DATA WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION!

App can record calls, record microphone, take pictures with camera and record with video whenever with out your consent or knowledge. Can set alarms using phones alarm app, can access available networks and CREATE NETWORK SOCKETS??  control your Bluetooth and can pair it with remote devices without consent or knowledge, can use your phones fingerprint program and body sensors with out consent or knowledge and that is just a few of them.. I SUGGEST EVERYONE READ WHAT PERMISSIONS YOU ARE APPROVING AS THIS IS NOT PCI COMPLIANT WHEN "MALICIOUS APPS" CAN ACCESS YOUR DATA!
