Uninstalling 2015 after 2019 Installation

Hi,  I upgraded from 2015 to 2019.  I have converted all my 2015 files to the new 2019 format.

Can I safely uninstall 2015 without having to make any changes to 2019?

Thank you, Ron

Congratulations on your successful upgrade, Ron.

Yes, you can safely uninstall the 2015 version since you've already converted it into the new 2019 format. Before performing it, I recommend saving a backup copy of your old file on a flash drive in case you need it for future reference.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Windows Start Menu on your computer.
  2. In the Search box, enter Control Panel and open it.
  3. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  4. Choose QuickBooks Desktop 2015 in the list of installed programs.
  5. Click Uninstall/Change.

For more information, you can check out this helpful article: Uninstall QuickBooks. To learn more about the upgrade process, here's a great article you can refer to: Upgrade to A New QuickBooks Desktop version

That's it, Ron. I'll be around to help if you need further assistance. Have a wonderful day ahead.

Thanks,

Raymond

Re: Uninstalling 2015 after 2019 Installation

Hi, I tried to follow your directions to save a backup copy of my Company File on QB 2015 so that I can uninstall that version from my computer (I have the newest version of QB).  But everything you needed me to click on was greyed out.  I could not perform Steps 1 and 2 of your instructions because there was no Switch to Single-user Mode option in my File folder and my Backup option was greyed out.

  1. Select File, and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. From the File menu, select Backup Company, and select Create Local Backup.

Hello there, lanajeany.

Thanks for keeping us updated with the results. I'm here to continue helping you with the upgrading process in QuickBooks Desktop.

Grayed out options are often caused by a damage file. To fix this, we can run the Verify/Rebuild tool which is use to resolve unexpected product behavior.

To Verify:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities.
  3. Select Verify.

To Rebuild:

  1. Click File at the top menu.
  2. Go to Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild.

Here's an article that'll serve as your step by step guide in resolving common data damage on your company file: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
