Update from 2013 pro to 2020

Hi etalboy. Glad that you reached out to me. Once you purchase the newest version of QuickBooks, I would suggest that you review this article about upgrading your company file. There are a few steps you'll need to follow before opening the file inside of the new version. I'll go ahead and list those for you below:

Prepare Company File for upgrade

  1. Open your 2013 QuickBooks. Then open the company file you want to upgrade.
  2. Press F2 to open the Product Information window.
  3. Look in the File Information section. Write this down, this is where the file is stored.
  4.  Go ahead and close that screen
  5. Now select, File then hover over Utilities and click Verify Data

If any problems are found with the data inside of the file, it will prompt you to run a Rebuild, which is required for it to upgrade. Once that is done, you can open the file inside of your new version of QuickBooks and it will begin the upgrade process. I'm here if you need anything else.

Install the trial license of Pro 2020 and try open your QBW file of 2013 on it.

Yes, there are alternative options to open your license key or product number in QuickBooks, @etalboy.

Actually, you can open them by following either of these three options.

I can see that you're primary concern is to send an invoice. Since you've updated your Windows Operating System, then you should also use a compatible version of QuickBooks with it.

For now, QuickBooks uses the 2020 version which compatible with your latest OS. I recommend using this version to fix your concern. You can also use its trial version to test its features.

Let's simply click the link provided by @Fiat Lux - ASIA to download this version. While downloading, I recommend creating a back up for your QuickBooks 2013 company files to save your data. Once done, you can now open the QuickBooks 2020 trial version and restore your QuickBooks 2013 file on it.

Please take note that the trial version will expire after 30 days and will automatically lock out the account. If you need to get a paid license, simply click this link here:
