I recently updated my OS to macOS Mojave version 10.14.2.  When I click to open my QuickBooks program it says, "You can't use this version of the application "QuickBooks 2014" with this version of macOS."  How can I update to a version that is compatible with my OS, and transfer my current files into the newer version of QuickBooks?  Thank-you in advance for any suggestions.

Newer Apple Operating Systems dropped support for the memory management API used by QuickBooks Mac 2014.  You need to upgrade to QuickBooks Mac 2019.  You can download a 30 day trial of 2019 from but you will have to purchase after the 30 days.

Once you have a copy of QuickBooks Mac 2019 (or trial) just launch it on your Mojave Mac and it should open the 2014 and convert it automatically.

Hello, @aida vera.

Thanks for visiting the Community and joining this thread. Allow me to join the conversation and help provide some information about the updated OS for Mac.

QuickBooks Mac 2014 is no longer supported for the updated operating system. You'll need to upgrade to a newer version as suggested by @IntuitBrooks. You can upgrade to QuickBooks Mac 2019 or use the QuickBooks Online plan instead.

For more information about the system requirements for Mac 2019, you can check this article link: QuickBooks Desktop system requirements.

As always, you can contact our Desktop Support for Mac if you need assistance with the upgrade. They can access your account in a secure environment ang help you with the process using their extra tools.

Here's how you can get their contact information:

  1. Go to:
  2. Select QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Click Install and Update.
  4. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

Let me know if you have additional questions about upgrading to a newer version for Mac. I'll be here to help however I can.
