Updating from 2013 to 2019

I'm updating from QuickBooks for Mac 2013 to 2019, and I'm having trouble opening a company in QuickBooks 2019. QuickBooks 2013 is on a different computer, so the company was backed up onto a flash drive and brought to the computer with QuickBooks 2019, but when I try to open the company I can see it, but it's gray and I can't choose it.

How do I get the company transferred to the new version?

The .dmg file is a container that must be opened, once opened you'll see your company file, drag that to your documents folder.

Assuming your backup file is a .dmg it will have to be mounted (opened) outside of QB. Once mounted drag the company file to your documents folder, from QB use file>open company and navigate to the company file.

The backup is a .dmg file. I put it in my documents folder. From QB when I go file>open company I can see the backup, but it's gray, so I can't choose it.

Thank you for the help. I didn't realize I had to open the .dmg file first. It looks like it will work now.
