Virtual Hosting & Mobile

Hi,

I'm looking to take advantage of the Warehouse Manager app and barcode scanning features in QuickBooks Enterprise 2019.  We access QuickBooks through virtual hosting (Right Networks).

I came across a QB help article that mentions scanning does not work if QB is accessed through a virtual networking computer (VNC) environment. We are about to invest in scanners

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Use-barcode-scanning/m-p/203410

Is this true? If so, what are my options to be able to utilize barcode scanning and the Warehouse Manager app with virtual hosting?

Thank you!

Great news! Barcode scanning indeed works with Right Networks. Allow me to discuss a few things.

The Warehouse Manager helps you in receiving items from your purchase orders, or pick and pack items collected from a warehouse to complete sales orders.

For the Warehouse manager, you'll still need to download this for it to work with your QuickBooks account.

As for barcode scanning, you can code your items to identify and track them easily. You'll need to activate barcode scanning from your Preferences. Here's how:

  1. Click on Edit from the menu bar.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click on Items & Inventory, select Company Preferences.
  4. Click on Advanced Inventory Settings.
  5. Select the Barcodes tab.
  6. Tick on Enable Barcodes.
  7. Click on OK.

You can edit more details by clicking on Open Barcode Wizard from the Advanced Inventory Settings pop-up.

Re: Virtual Hosting & Mobile

How did using and printing barcodes work out for you using right networks? I'd appreciate any feedback. I am currently running enterprise 19 hosted by right networks. I have been trying to print and use barcodes properly for over a year now. From what I understand from working with RN's and some 3rd party label apps/companies, RN's is just now finally getting some label apps licensed and running. They loaded Baus Label Link with Wasp on my desktop a week ago and long story short it doesn't work. Which I'm not surprised. Barcodes have been a horror story for me. I am not sure if it's because I am hosted or because I am using right networks. Right Networks seems to be going down hill fast. I stayed with them for so long because of their tech support. The guys there were awesome. But I personally think RN's has become a joke. From reading current reviews, I am not the only one. I am currently looking for another hosting company in hopes of having better luck with using apps.  Any help from a user who is successfully printing and scanning barcodes thru a hosted QB's would be much appreciated.
