I would talk with support and have data services convert the file. Users are not having much success getting a clean conversion and Mac users cannot convert back without Internet Explorer to QB Windows then converting the file to QB Mac.

Thanks - and from what I have read you cannot download IE on a Mac now.  I feel like QBO has screwed me.

IE On the Mac wouldn't work anyway - it requires a Windows machine running IE.  This is due to it using ActiveX.

So do I (feel screwed). QBO has been a disaster, and I've wasted days with support being unable to help me. I think they are lost too. I even had to teach one of the 'geniuses' on support how to find my tax id! Terrible product, terrible support. QBDT was not perfect, but although time-consuming and obnoxious, it could work.

Well I work exclusively on the time-consuming and obnoxious one.  So thanks!  ;-)  I can't comment on QBO as I don't work on it or use it enough to know.

AND before you do that, print out or to pdf all reports that you need, but at the minimum, P&L, balance sheet, sales tax liability, inventory valuation summary, a/r aging, etc etc

When you do get a desktop file run those same reports and they must match, or you will have to find the errors and correct them intuit will not help

Great tip.  I was going to run some balance sheets and start manually implementing back into the desktop version which we used until May of last year.  A pain in the ass but I am over the online version.

Can I ask why you don't like the Online version?

I would also like to know why you don't like the online version. We are looking to move from Mac desktop to online and are exploring what that would mean - extra costs, how data is stored/backed-up/accessed, etc.

Costly, doesn't offer MANY of the features as QB desktop does, cant edit things, no backups so if you want to restore due to messing something up from a previous back up you cannot.

I have the exactly same issue. Now I decided go to desktop pro 2020 version. Can you tell me how to get your issue solved so I can solved it by the same way? I am from Canada.

@SnapMobile ,

Company only provides the migration tool from QBO US to QBD US. If you are using QBO CA  and need migrating to QBD CA, there are two options:

1. Using a 3rd party migration tool

https://transactionpro.grsm.io/qbo

or,

2. Purchasing a 3rd party conversion service

Hi SnapMobile,

Let's make sure to use Internet Explorer 11 so you can successfully move your account from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop. Let me guide you with the steps.

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Click the Gear Icon.
  3. Choose Export Data.
  4. Enter the reason why you're exporting your client's data.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Under Moving to QuickBooks Desktop?, click Learn more.
  7. Under Download company data, choose Learn more.
  8. Review your data from the export overview screen, then click Get Started.
  9. In the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, click Continue to Download.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the exporting process.

Once done, you can export your QBO data to desktop.

There are some limitations that you need to consider once you move your data. Please check this article for more information: Limitations When You Convert From QBO To QuickBooks Desktop.

Nevertheless, if you encounter a specific issue at the time of the conversion, please let us know so we can help you.

I have this link in case you have other questions about QuickBooks: Account Management. All the articles provided are for US version but are still applicable to your region.

Keep in touch if you need anything else. I'll be right here to help.

Thank you. I used QBO Canada version, and it seems not support this way to transfer data to desktop pro version. I can't get anything from step 4.

Yes, correct. Consider 2 options I have mentioned earlier.

@SnapMobile

TP Exporter for Online = export your data out of QBO

TP Importer for Desktop = import your data into QuickBooks Desktop file (QBW)
