What are the pros and cons switching from online qb to desktop qb?

QB Desktop offers more features than QB Online, but you will need a 3rd party solution to access QB Desktop files by internet connection. You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021, but you will find many 3rd party apps to integrate with QB Online.

Why do you consider switching from QB Online to QB Desktop? Any specific concern?

Thank you for contacting us, Linkhart13.

Let me add up some information on what happens to your data when you switch from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

  • Your audit log doesn't export to QBDT. We recommend you print or save it as a PDF.
  • Cash purchases will convert to checks in QBDT.
  • Companies that use multicurrency shouldn't export to QuickBooks Desktop.
  • If a list exceeds 10,000 items, only the first 10,000 will convert.
  • Reconciliation reports aren't exported.

I'm adding this link to learn what other data won't transfer to the desktop version: Limitations when you convert from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop.

When you decide to convert, here's an article the provides step-by-step process: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

To select which QuickBooks is right for you, each version of the program is designed to address specific business needs. That being said, you can browse this link you can read as it provides some features depending on your product: Learn about different QuickBooks products and versions.
